I’ve been there myself…
When my young Border Collie, Star, had a bad experience at the vet it devastated us both. Star had strong opinions about many things, and she was simply done with anyone touching or handling her.
It was clear that I had to do something because she had a whole lifetime ahead of her, and I didn’t want to fight her and traumatize both of us whenever she needed care. Plus, I’d been a professional trainer for over 15 years at that point, so surely I could find a way!
It was a struggle until I realized I simply needed to fall back on my academic training in learning & behavior. I designed conditioning protocols & tested them out on her. Some worked & some didn’t. So I kept revising and adapting until we found a way forward.
Once I found techniques & approaches that worked I applied them to all my other dogs, and they worked well. Then I started helping friends & students with the same struggles. And they were very successful as well.
Since then, I’ve been passionate about sharing what I’ve created & crafted with others. It’s why I’ve developed the Cooperative Care Trainer Certificate Program (CARE-TC™). Cooperative care can makes dogs’ lives so much better! Bonus: It can also diminish the humans’ stress level too!

NICE TO MEET YOU!
I’m Deb Jones
While finishing my Ph.D. in psychology I stumbled into the world of professional dog training, because of a rescued Labrador Retriever named Katie. Katie was my ‘starter dog’ and she patiently tolerated my early attempts to combine the science of learning with the real world application of hands-on training.
Now, I use what I’ve learned to help people just like you who struggle with physical care for their dogs. I’ll show you the best approaches to set up win-win training situations, build a trusting relationship with your dog, and accomplish your cooperative care goals.
“I refer my clients to Deb Jones’ cooperative care resources on a regular basis. I also send a copy of Deb’s book home with my puppy buyers. These resources provide a way for dog owners to learn and implement humane and effective handling for the benefit of all.”

Cooperative Care has forever changed my relationship with my dog and has opened a world of possibility in creating positive relationships with all living beings I work with.
My relationship with my dog, Marshall, has gone from one of fear, dread and failure to one of trust, enrichment and FUN.
Steph Liss
Cooperative care has had such a large positive impact on my own life that I’ve started including it in my class offerings. So many pet parents struggle with home husbandry, especially nail trims, and the course has been very popular with my students. So grateful for Deb and her pioneering work in cooperative care!
Sara Saperstein
Cooperative care, the training owners do at home, compliments the low stress handling used by veterinarians & their staff who are Fear Free / Cat Friendly certified. Prescribed treatments don’t do any good if the pet won’t allow it. This class teaches the skills that makes veterinary visits less stressful & makes home treatments more successful.

As a professional groomer and guardian of a very sensitive dog, Deb Jones’s knowledge has made a tremendous difference to how I have worked with the dogs I share my professional and personal life with. I find myself frequently recommending her books, Facebook group and web classes to clients and fellow trainers on a near daily basis, as an exceptional source of reliable information, support and motivation for them on their cooperative care journey.
